BC AIV Surveillance and Research Program

Avian Influenza (AI) is a viral disease that can cause significant morbidity and mortality in domestic poultry. Wild birds, particularly, waterfowl, are the reservoir for all avian influenza viruses, and are therefore a focus for surveillance. AI surveillance and research in BC wildlife is conducted by BC WASP, which is an inter-agency collaborative led by CG Himsworth.
